Air Botswana and Air Connect Namibia have unveiled new flight routes connecting Windhoek to key destinations in Botswana, including Maun, Kasane, and Gaborone, with the latter extending to Durban.
This development, commencing on October 1, 2024, is being hailed as a critical milestone in reinforcing regional unity and fostering diplomatic and business relations between the two neighboring countries.
“These air connectivity routes between our countries will certainly ensure increased people-to-people and business-to-business interaction,” emphasized Bisey Uirab, CEO of the Namibia Airports Company, underlining the routes’ broader significance beyond mere travel convenience.
The initiative, backed by sustained government and business engagements, will see Air Botswana operating thrice-weekly flights, strengthening its regional footprint and advancing economic activities within Botswana and beyond.
Lulu Rasebotsa, CEO of Air Botswana, echoed the importance of this expansion, noting that the new routes are a testament to the airline’s commitment to sustainability and growth in the Southern African region.
With this move, both airlines are not only enhancing connectivity but also solidifying the political and economic alliance between Botswana and Namibia, promising a new era of regional cooperation and prosperity.
