President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle within the Federal Executive Council, resulting in key changes to Nigeria’s economic and housing leadership. The development was confirmed in an official memo issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
As part of the reshuffle, Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated to the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, taking over from Wale Edun, who has been directed to hand over his responsibilities. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the finance ministry.
The memo, signed by George Akume, also announced the exit of two cabinet members, including Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, from the cabinet. Dangiwa has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

In a related development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, pending the completion of formal processes.
According to the directive, all handover procedures are to be concluded on or before April 23, 2026. The presidency stated that the changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion within the cabinet, improving synergy in governance, and enhancing economic delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The statement further noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the reshuffle. He also commended the outgoing ministers for their service and reaffirmed that efforts to reinvigorate the cabinet would remain ongoing.
