The resilient, hardworking Minister, who has been commended and known for his efforts in the Botswana Educational sector, improving the quality and relevance of Education for its Citizens, and making overwhelming impact across the country, Dr. Douglas Letsholathebe, the Honourable Minister has been warmly selected as the Public Sector Global “Minister of the Week” for this week.
Dr Douglas is a strategic thinker, a brilliant leader with varied innovations, which he has put into action, and raising impact which has helped grow the sector under his Leadership. His Ministry has been recognized for facilitating scientific discoveries and innovations.
The Honourable Minister is a Botswana politician, a university physics lecturer by profession who was elected to serve as a member of parliament for Tati East constituency and immediately also appointed as the Minister of tertiary education research science, and technology. In 2022 he was appointed Minister of Education and Skills Development in the Cabinet of Botswana by President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Following his outstanding contributions and laudable achievements to the educational sector, he has introduced several reforms for the better practice and involvement for the student and the society at large. The Minister recently revealed that the senior secondary school curriculum has been reviewed from being objective-focused to being outcome/skill-based. The new reform introduced will see the syllabus content and delivery methods changing from theoretical to practical and the skills learnt aligned more to the world of work than ever before. He has become our celebrated Minister of the Week.
