The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially rolled out its groundbreaking “Operation Go Cashless” initiative, transitioning all payment systems at key revenue points to contactless, cashless solutions.
The policy takes effect today at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, marking a significant shift in airport operations.
In a statement released earlier today, FAAN, in collaboration with Paystack, announced that payments at access gates, car parks, FAAN VIP lounges, and protocol areas will now be exclusively cashless. This move aims to boost efficiency, enhance revenue assurance, and deliver a seamless experience for travelers.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in partnership with Paystack, is proud to announce the roll-out of OPERATION GO CASHLESS, a cashless contactless payment solution across all airports beginning with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,” the statement read.
It further noted that cash collection at these points will be phased out, with passengers encouraged to adopt secure contactless payment options for faster service.
To ensure a smooth transition, FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access points and terminals. These representatives will guide passengers, assist with onboarding, and demonstrate the new system’s functionality.
