A UNICEF delegation, led by Deputy Regional Director for Eastern & Southern Africa Jeremy Hopkins, paid a courtesy call on Botswana’s Honourable Minister for State President , reinforcing a long-standing partnership focused on child welfare, education, and health.
Hopkins was joined by Deputy Representative Dr. Kimanzi Muthengi and Head of Communications & Advocacy Ms. Tuduetso Kelapile.
The Ministry’s delegation, representing the Minister, was led by Deputy Permanent Secretary to the President Ms. Matshidiso Bokole, alongside Permanent Secretary Ms. Goitsemang Morekisi, Acting Permanent Secretary for International Relations Ms. Dimpho Mogami, Director Ms. Thulaganyo Kauta, SmartBots Project Coordinator Mr. Stanley Makosha, and Presidential Youth Liaison Officers Mr. Umbambi Ndiwenyu and Ms. Ndibapi Matenge.
Ms. Bokole expressed Botswana’s gratitude for UNICEF’s enduring support in advancing programs for child welfare, education, and health. UNICEF praised Botswana’s leadership in birth registration, early childhood learning, child protection, and inclusive access to education and health services.

The delegation highlighted the country’s potential to drive growth through initiatives like Generation Unlimited (GenU), which focuses on youth empowerment.
Discussions centered on deepening collaboration in youth empowerment, child welfare, and education, with a strong emphasis on ensuring health access for all. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to building on Botswana’s progress, leveraging innovative programs to support the nation’s youth and children.
