NNPC Ltd has donated 35 hybrid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses to the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG). The handover ceremony, held at NNPC Towers in Abuja, marked a significant step in Nigeria’s journey toward energy transition and economic empowerment.
Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group CEO of NNPC Ltd, stood at the forefront of the event, reaffirming the company’s unwavering commitment to the Federal Government’s gas agenda. “I am proud that NNPC Ltd is playing a pivotal role in driving Nigeria’s energy transition,” Ojulari declared, highlighting the company’s progress in expanding gas supply, infrastructure, distribution, and retail networks. He emphasized that CNG, as a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative, aligns with NNPC’s mission to reduce reliance on traditional fuels like petrol and diesel.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, described the buses as more than just vehicles—they are symbols of economic relief, social equity, and environmental stewardship. “These buses signal a future where Nigerians can commute safely, affordably, and efficiently,” Ekpo said, tying the initiative to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The program aims to leverage Nigeria’s abundant natural gas resources to lower transportation costs and foster sustainable development.
