The Lagos State Government has officially launched the invitational passenger operations of the Red Line Rail.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in announcing the milestone, emphasized that this development brings Lagos closer to becoming a modern, efficient, and interconnected city.
The Red Line will initially operate four daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado, significantly easing commuting challenges and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The service will start its morning trips at 8:30 AM from Oyingbo, making stops at major stations including Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, and Agege, before arriving at Agbado by 9:37 AM.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that the trains would adhere strictly to schedules, promoting order and efficiency.
The current phase of operations will also serve as an opportunity to assess the system’s safety and reliability, gathering feedback from passengers to fine-tune services before the commencement of full commercial operations.
Once fully operational, the Red Line is expected to run 20 trips daily, with the capacity to carry over 500,000 passengers each day.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the rail line is not just a means of transportation, but a critical infrastructure that will connect communities and drive economic growth in Lagos.
Residents are encouraged to register for the invitational experience as Lagos strides towards an efficient and future-ready city.
