Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakumicha has suspended eight branch managers accused of alleged fraud within the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
The managers are accused of employing deceptive tactics to exploit Kenyans for personal gain.
Nakumicha, who blamed the existence of cartels colluding with branch managers for the fraudulent activities, has instructed the NHIF board to launch a thorough investigation into the matter.

The board has been given a strict deadline of 48 hours to present a preliminary report on the alleged fraud to the Health Cabinet Secretary.
As part of the investigation, the whistleblower will also be called upon to provide crucial information regarding the syndicate.
