The Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Dr. Musalia Mudavadi has challenged public servants to individually and collectively revolutionize the public service.
Dr. Mudavadi spoke while gracing the first graduation ceremony of the inaugural cohort of the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship (PSELF) programme today 09.06.2023 at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
“ All of you – each and everyone of you – who are sitting here can be the power of change that revolutionizes the public service,” he said.
The PCS also commended the Public Service Commission, Emerging Public Leaders (EPL)- USA, Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) – Africa for jointly initiating and running the Public Service Emerging Fellowship (PSELF) Programme.
He highlighted that the programme will go a long way transforming leadership in the public service.
“ The objective of the Emerging Leaders Fellowship programme is to build the next generation of public sector leaders capable of providing transformative solutions to pressing policy issues ,” Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
“I am confident that the SELF Fellows graduating today will be torchbearers of positive change, catalysts for innovation, and champions of transparent and ethical governance,” he added.
Dr. Mudavadi also assured the Public Service Commission of the Government’s support in transforming the human resource in Public Service.
Speaking the same event, the PSC Vice Chairperson Ms.
Charity Kisotu gave the background of the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship (PSELF) Programme, noting that the Commission saw the need to train and nurture a new crop of youths joining the public service.
“The first and basic mark of leadership is service,” CPA Charity Kisotu.
PSELF is a brainchild programme of the Commission aimed at empowering and transforming the human resource in the public service through capacity building of the entry level officers who have served between 6 months and 2 years and aged below 35.
PSC runs the programme in partnership with Emerging Public Leaders – USA and Emerging Leaders Foundation -Africa. The three partners signed an MOU in Novermber 2021 and the first cohort inaugurated in March the following year.
Also in-attendance were Mr. Emmanuel Lubembe, Chairperson PSELF steering committee, Ms. Karen Wakoli, Founder ELF-Africa, Former Head of Public Service Amb. Francis Muthaura, PSC Commissioners and Commission Secretary Dr. Simon Rotich.
