The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has introduced the Directorate of Investigation, Prosecution & Security (IPS).
This new division marks a significant step forward in enhancing operational security and enforcing accountability within the power distribution sector.
According to ‘The Power Dispatch,’ ECG’s maiden newsletter, the IPS will be instrumental in investigating and prosecuting power theft, a critical measure for protecting the company’s resources and ensuring equitable distribution.
By employing rigorous investigation techniques, the IPS aims to deliver substantial financial savings for both ECG and the government.
In addition to its focus on power theft, the IPS will implement comprehensive security protocols to safeguard ECG’s physical assets, personnel, and sensitive information.
These measures are designed to mitigate risks, deter threats, and reinforce ECG’s reputation as a reliable industry leader.
The success of the IPS will hinge on its collaboration with key security agencies, including the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Armed Forces, among others.
This strategic partnership is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the IPS in fulfilling its investigative and prosecutorial responsibilities.
Samuel Dubik Mahama Esq., ECG’s Managing Director, emphasized that the IPS underscores the institution’s dedication to self-accountability and proactive business management.
