The Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has provided laptops to 50 students at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Tarkwa as part of a four-year scholarship package.
These students, selected from BOST’s host communities across the country, are already beneficiaries of the company’s scholarship program, which covers tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Deputy Managing Director of BOST, Joseph Kpemka, emphasized the company’s commitment to removing barriers to education for talented but financially challenged students. “The laptops will facilitate access to information, online research, and academic work,” Kpemka stated.
The initiative is part of BOST’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at empowering students and contributing to the development of the country’s educational sector.
BOST plans to monitor the academic progress of the beneficiaries, with the possibility of employment opportunities for those who excel after graduation.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor of UMaT, Anthony Simmons, commended BOST for the initiative and encouraged the students to work hard to justify the company’s investment.
Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Director of Education, Catherine Biney, also expressed her gratitude to BOST and urged the students to excel in their studies as a form of appreciation.
