Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango has called on Tanzanians to register or update their information in the Permanent Voters’ Register (PVR) ahead of the upcoming local government elections this year and general elections next year.
During his visit to Uvinza District in the Kigoma region, Dr. Mpango encouraged citizens to actively participate in the registration process and contribute their opinions to the ongoing preparations for the National Development Vision 2050.
He emphasized the importance of a smooth voter information update exercise, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) holding stakeholder meetings in preparation for the update scheduled for July 20.
In addition to his electoral appeals, Dr. Mpango highlighted the significance of education and environmental conservation. He urged Kigoma residents to prioritize their children’s education and directed local leaders to oversee the restoration of natural vegetation through tree planting and management.
Dr. Mpango also addressed community water challenges in Kazuramimba by instructing the Ministry of Water to expedite a local water project.
He handed over five vehicles to District Commissioners of Kigoma Region, stressing the ethical use of government resources.
During his visit, he met with renowned primatologist Ms. Jane Goodall, inaugurating a road named in her honor and praising her contributions to wildlife conservation and education.
