The Kenyan Government through the Ministry of Environment Climate Change and Forestry has launched the tree growing campaign by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in Limuru, Kiambu County.
The occasion that was graced by the KBC Board Chairman Mr. Benjamin Maingi marked the beginning of a massive tree growing exercise by the Cooperation in line with the Government’s 15biliion tree cover initiative.
The CS Environment Climate Change and Forestry Hon. Soipan Tuya, through a speech read by the Secretary of Administration for the State Department for Forestry Mr. Isaiah Nakoru, reiterated the need to take a personal initiative and become ecological citizens, to deepen commitment to protect the goodness and beauty of God’s great creation.

She added that Investing in forest protection, Conservation, sustainable forest management and tree growing initiatives rhyme perfectly with the call from God to protect nature.
The KBC Chair said the Corporation is committed to embracing the tree growing initiatives geared at addressing the devastating climate change mitigation efforts.

He added that the Corporation has a huge potential to grow trees in their parcels of land spread all over their stations country.
The event also graced by the Limuru Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Charles Mulele saw the participants planting 520 indigenous trees.
Also present were the KBC digital and ICT managers Jared Ombui and Mwala Mugasia respectively.
