The Lagos State Government is set to embark on the construction of transport interchanges at Marina and Mile 2 in 2024.
The revelation was made by Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), during the Lagos Transport Fest event at Four Points by Sheraton.
Akinajo also emphasized the commitment to integrate all modes of transportation in the state. The event, attended by key players in the public and private transport sectors, highlighted LAMATA’s future focus on Non-Motorized Transport options in infrastructure projects.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during an inspection tour of the Opebi-Mende-Ojota link bridge, assured residents that Julius Berger would complete the construction project by the third quarter of the next year.
Despite acknowledging the challenging terrain, the governor emphasized the project’s significance in addressing traffic issues and providing alternative routes for Lagosians.
Sanwo-Olu revealed that the bridge would feature provisions for cycling and a spacious pedestrian walkway, encouraging residents to engage in recreational activities.
The Opebi-Ojota link bridge is poised not only to alleviate traffic congestion but also to enhance the overall mobility and well-being of Lagos residents.
