Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi, joined Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufu to officially launch Public Service Ethics Week this morning, marking a significant moment in the annual Integrated Public Service Month (IPSM).
The event, held in Pretoria, kicked off a week-long initiative dedicated to fostering ethical conduct and integrity across South Africa’s public service.
Running from September 8 to September 12, Public Service Ethics Week aims to reinforce the importance of high ethical standards among public servants.
Throughout the week, government departments and public service employees will engage in a series of workshops and events designed to promote the Batho Pele principles—guidelines that emphasize people-centered service delivery, honesty, and accountability.
In his keynote address, Minister Buthelezi called on public servants to embody the highest ethical standards, warning against actions that could erode public trust.
“Upholding integrity is not just a duty; it is the foundation of a capable and ethical state,” he emphasized. The Minister’s remarks underscored the week’s core mission: to strengthen commitment to ethical governance and rebuild confidence in public institutions.
