Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan, called for a harmonious working relationship between ministers’ aides and civil servants to enhance service delivery.
In a recent stakeholders’ workshop held in Abuja, Yemi-Esan ably represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Service Policies and Strategies Office (SPSO)Deborah Odoh, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the vision of President Bola Tinubu.
Yemi-Esan stated that the workshop aimed to foster synergy between the offices of ministers and civil servants, ensuring that the nation’s policies and programs are effectively implemented.
The workshop, designed to build the capacity of participants, covered key areas such as the Revised Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations, Public Procurement Act, Ethical Codes of Conduct, and other relevant reforms. Yemi-Esan highlighted that the workshop’s goal was to promote workplace synergy and productivity.
She said: “As you all know, our country is at a critical point in its journey towards national development and it is our responsibility to support our principals to ensure that the much-needed policies and programmes are effectively and efficiently implemented to secure the future we desire of a Nigeria that can maximize its full economic and developmental potential.”
The civil service chief, who is retiring by August 13 further stated: “In line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the key areas to be covered by very experienced and carefully chosen resource persons include the Revised Public Service rules, Financial Regulations, Public Procurement Act, Ethical Codes of Conduct, and the Public Service Administrative Procedure, and Relevant Reforms in line with Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This will equip participants with the necessary information that will guide their day-to-day activities and facilitate a smooth working relationship between ministerial aides and civil servants” Yemi-Esan emphasized.
