On the sidelines of the 44th meeting of the Sectoral Council for Trade, Industry, Finance, and Investment (SCTIFI), Kenya has launched an EAC e-tariff software.
This innovative tool allows users to access the EAC tariff harmonized goods description (HS) directly from their workstations.
Participating in the launch includes the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for EAC, ASALS and Regional Development , Hon. Peninah Malonza alongside other thought and influential public sector leaders.
The software is designed to provide stakeholders in the EAC with easy access to the HS, eliminating the need to print the Common External Tariff (CET) and thereby contributing to cost savings and environmental protection.
“Its implementation will significantly facilitate trade within the EAC by simplifying access to duty remission documents and data, which were previously transmitted manually via emails and physical copies,” CS Malinza highlighted.
