The Oyo/Osun command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announce a record-breaking revenue generation of N71.2 billion in 2023.
The Controller of the Command, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, revealed this significant accomplishment during a press briefing that highlighted the command’s performance throughout the year.
Despite facing global and local trade challenges, the command showcased its commitment to fair and efficient revenue collection.
Controller Oramalugo attributed the success to the diligent enforcement of extant laws, particularly the NCS ACT 2023, along with measures aimed at simplifying customs processes.
Oyo/Osun Customs also demonstrated a strong commitment to combating smuggling activities in 2023. Controller Oramalugo reported that the command intercepted contraband valued at N454 million during the review period.
Seizures included vehicles, used shoes, cannabis sativa, foreign parboiled rice, premium motor spirit, and used tires, among other prohibited goods.
The Controller highlighted the collaborative efforts of various security agencies, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and key stakeholders in Oyo and Osun States.
