Tanzanian police force’s road safety division has initiated a crackdown on drivers using 3D plate numbers on their vehicles, a rising trend in the country.
Deputy commissioner Michael Deleli, the police force’s road safety education officer, emphasized that such modifications to vehicle plate numbers are illegal and pose significant safety risks, especially during nighttime driving.
The police have started a special operation to remove all 3D plate numbers, emphasizing that the letters on the plates must adhere to specific size measurements and condemning those who have turned the installation of 3D plate numbers into a business.
Additionally, the police will continue to enforce restrictions on drivers with tinted headlights and tail lights to ensure safer road conditions for all motorists.
