Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has highlighted that Nigeria spends over $500 million annually on dairy product imports.
During a courtesy visit by officials of Heifer International at the Government House in Benin City, the governor emphasized the need for the country to prioritize agriculture and domestic production to foster economic growth and development.
Governor Obaseki expressed his government’s commitment to investing in the agricultural sector, aiming to boost the state’s economy, address food insecurity, and create wealth for its citizens.

He stressed the importance of self-sufficiency, urging the younger population to recognize the limited resources available for food imports and embrace agricultural production as a means to ensure food security and prosperity for all.
