Ghana’s Minister for Communication and Digitalisation Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has announced an extension to the deadline for the sim-card re-registration exercise which should have ended today Sunday, July 31.
The deadline for registration has been moved to September 30th, 2022.
Addressing the media on Sunday 31st July 2022 she emphasized the need for all citizens yet to register to do due diligence.
According to her, they are working on a self-registration process this week to help curb the network delays in some communities.
The minister also added that visitors will be allowed to register the sim cards with their passports.
“The law makes it impossible to use other identification cards,” she said.
The exercise which originally began on October 1st, 2021 scheduled to end on March 31st, 2022 had to be extended to July 31st, 2022 due to complaints of others not having their Ghana Card to proceed with the registration.
She, therefore, added that there will be no other deadline extension given thus Ghanaians should take good advantage of the opportunity.
