Côte d’Ivoire has taken a significant step toward modernizing its mining sector with the launch of the “Côte d’Ivoire Mining E-Cadastre” portal, a digital platform designed to streamline the management of mining permits and authorizations. The official launch, presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Robert Beugré Mambé on September 22, 2025, at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan, marks a pivotal moment in the country’s efforts to enhance its mining governance and attract global investors.
Prime Minister Mambé hailed the portal as a cornerstone of reforms aimed at strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s mining attractiveness, ensuring compliance with the International Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (IITIE), and improving the efficiency of mining operations. “This portal reflects our ambition to build a modern, efficient, and competitive Côte d’Ivoire, accelerating its economic and social development,” he stated. The platform is also expected to play a critical role in combating illegal gold panning, a persistent challenge in the sector.
The mining e-cadastre introduces a fully digitized system for processing mining permits, positioning Côte d’Ivoire as a global leader in digital mining governance. “This is a qualitative and decisive turning point for our mining sector, which has seen remarkable growth over the past decade,” Mambé said. He highlighted the sector’s achievements, noting that national gold production has quadrupled and manganese production has increased tenfold from 2012 to 2025. Additionally, the country has diversified its mining portfolio to include nickel, bauxite, lithium, colombo-tantalite, and rare earths, further solidifying its appeal to international investors.
Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, emphasized the portal’s role in enhancing administrative efficiency. “The mining management process is a lever for improving the performance of our administration in the service of users,” he said. The minister underscored the platform’s potential to streamline operations and improve transparency, aligning with the government’s broader vision for the sector.
