The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIarb (UK), yesterday received separate delegations from the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, and senior executives of China’s leading aircraft manufacturer, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).
Ambassador Yu reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s aviation development agenda, stressing that aviation is a catalyst for economic growth and connectivity. He noted that Nigeria’s size and potential make it a natural partner for strategic collaboration.
In a parallel meeting, COMAC Vice President Yang Yang led discussions on potential cooperation with Nigerian airlines, focusing on aircraft leasing, technical support, and long-term partnerships. The Honourable Minister welcomed these proposals, highlighting Nigeria’s openness to allowing COMAC use the country as a hub for accessing the African aviation market.
“We are ready for this collaboration and will soon lead a delegation of domestic airline executives to COMAC’s headquarters to deepen discussions,” Mr. Keyamo stated.
The visits mark a significant step in strengthening Nigeria-China aviation relations and pave the way for modern aircraft solutions and enhanced support services tailored to Nigeria’s growing aviation sector.
