In response to President Advocate Duma Boko’s push for a technology-driven overhaul of Botswana’s agricultural sector, Drone Technology Centre, a Gaborone-based company, is introducing cutting-edge drone solutions to revolutionize farming.
The initiative aligns with the Ghanzi Agricultural Show’s theme, “Sowing Seeds of Innovation for Agricultural Transformation,” aimed at boosting sector efficiency and profitability.
Mojwadi Tsietso, a representative of Drone Technology Centre, highlighted the transformative potential of drones in an interview. He emphasized that drones enable farmers to monitor crops, map fields, and optimize input application, leading to higher yields, lower costs, and new revenue streams.
“This technology is a futuristic innovation that turns progressive ideas into profit-yielding realities,” Tsietso said, urging farmers to embrace modern, resilient agricultural practices.
The company offers user-friendly drones with prices starting at P15,000 ($1,108), tailored to various farming needs. After purchase, farmers receive three to six weeks of in-house training to ensure proficiency.

Drone Technology Centre also provides affordable maintenance and adheres to Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) regulations for licensing.
Despite a slow initial uptake, Tsietso remains optimistic that increased awareness and competitive pricing will drive adoption.
He also called for greater youth involvement in agriculture, stressing the need for a vibrant, sustainable sector. Tsietso urged lawmakers to craft policies that attract and empower young farmers, fostering long-term growth.
