The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) received a major boost for the national electricity transmission grid, thanks to a strategic partnership with the Government of France.
French Minister Delegate for Francophonie and International Partnerships, Thani Mohamed Soilihi, visited the site of the National System Control Centre (NSCC) project in Embakasi, Nairobi, highlighting the growing collaboration between Kenya and France in strengthening energy infrastructure and accelerating the country’s transition to renewable energy.

Valued at Sh12 billion, the NSCC project is a flagship development funded through concessional loans from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Treasury. The initiative aims to modernize Kenya’s national grid management and improve power transmission efficiency across the country.
Construction is being undertaken by a consortium of GE Vernova and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), combining cutting-edge technology and global engineering expertise.
