The Director General of the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA), Ms. Bopelokgale Soko has highlighted that the Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Financing of Terrorism, and Counter-Financing of Proliferation (AML/CFT/CFP) conference had gathered finance experts, policy makers and government officials to prepare Botswana for the next mutual evaluation expected in 2027.
Ms Soko emphasized the need to develop a common agenda that all will be committed to, and will speak specifically to collective efforts to improve Botswana’s AMLCFT regime.
She challenged individual institutions and collective associations to develop road maps showing activities intended to be undertaken in preparation for the mutual evaluation in 2027.
The conference also marked the celebration of FIA’S 10 years of existence and was held under the theme: Mitigating ML/FT/FP Risks: Towards Building Resilient Institutions.”
