The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially commenced the collection of the Emissions Levy as of today, February 1, 2024.
The implementation of the Emissions Levy Act, 2023 (Act 1112) is a strategic move by the government to address greenhouse gas emissions, promote eco-friendly technology, encourage the use of green energy, and enhance environmental management while controlling air and water pollution levels.
According to section 4(4) of Act 1112, individuals seeking a road use certificate from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and other testing centers are required to present evidence of payment for the levy.
The Authority urged vehicle owners to register and pay the levy through the Ghana.gov platform exclusively.
The scheduled amount is as follows:
1. Motorcycles and tricycles – GHS75 per annum
2. Motor vehicles, buses and coaches up to 3000 cc – GHS150 per annum
3. Motor Vehicles, buses and coaches above 3000 cc – GHS300 per annum
4. Caro trucks and articulated trucks – GHS300 per annum
