The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has officially announced the commencement of Operation No Free Consumption from Thursday, 1st February, to Friday, 15th February, 2024.
This comprehensive initiative aims to address various challenges related to unpaid electricity bills and unauthorized consumption.
During the operation, ECG teams will be actively engaged in the field, focusing on tasks such as updating customer details, including phone numbers and GPS addresses.
The teams will also be collecting outstanding arrears, disconnecting services for non-payment, and implementing new technology with the use of the Zeus Mobile device to capture images of postpaid meters for accurate readings.
The initiative aims to regularize all SHEP/non-ECG meters, urging customers to pay the required regularization fee.
“In view of this exercise, the regional and district offices will operate with a lean staff pool who will provide essential services to customers during this exercise,” the company wrote in statement released on January 25, 2024.
