Lagos State Government has attracted potential foreign investments for two pivotal waste conversion projects.
The Advanced Garbage Collection and Waste-to-Energy initiative, along with the construction of a state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plant, received significant interest from international investors, marking a crucial step towards addressing Lagos’ environmental challenges.
The announcement was made by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Nigeria Pavilion on Sunday, where he revealed that financing deals for these ambitious projects had been secured.
In press release, the Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that both waste sector projects are now at a critical stage, awaiting technical reviews from interested investors and subsequent fund disbursement to bring these visionary ideas to fruition.
The Governor expressed optimism that the successful implementation of these projects would not only alleviate the current waste management burden faced by the state but also turn it into an opportunity for sustainable development.
This developement notably follows the achieving heights of Nigerian government at the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai.
