The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture for Botswana Hon. Tumiso Rakgare has officially unveiled the bid logo of Botswana’s 2027 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) BID.
Hon. Rakgare highlighted that the bid logo does not only symbolize Botswana as a nation but also captures the dreams and ambitions of Batswana.
When unpacking the logo, Hon. Rakgare explained that the logo drew inspiration from amongst other things, one of UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites – the ever-amazing Okavango Delta; the mainstay of Botswana’s economy – diamonds; the sand dunes of the Kgalagadi Region; Botswana’s unique arts and crafts; agriculture and of course an element without which sport would never be exciting – the passionate Botswana fans.
The tagline for the bid “Achieving Prosperity-One Goal at a Time” is derived from the nation’s President, His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi’s statement on delivering his commitment to the Nation, “One promise at a time”.
