The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office [Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability], Professor Joyce Ndalichako, has stressed the need for technical and vocational institutes to boost their student intakes. These institutions are better equipped to produce graduates who are ready for the job market compared to other higher education establishments.
During the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) symposium, held at Mount Meru Hotel under the theme “Strengthening TVET for Skilled Workforce in Tanzania,” Professor Ndalichako affirms the government’s commitment to empowering technical and vocational education and training colleges. These institutions have the capacity to produce competent professionals capable of excelling in various fields.
Dr Adolf Rutayuga, the Executive Secretary of NACTVET, highlights their efforts to ensure students are well-prepared to tackle any challenges they encounter after completing their training.
The symposium, which attracted 250 attendees, is taking place in the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in conjunction with a special exhibition.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to grace the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Exhibition 2023 on Friday, May 19, 2023, further emphasizing the importance of vocational training.
Dr Rutayuga urges Tanzanians from the Northern Zone regions of Arusha, Manyara, and Kilimanjaro to attend the event in large numbers and witness the achievements of youth in vocational training institutes.
The National Council for Technical Education serves to support technical institutions in enhancing and maintaining the quality of education they provide. They ensure that the programs offered align with the demands of the labor market through guidance and monitoring of regulatory compliance.
Additionally, the council provides advisory services to the government and technical institutions regarding the strategic development of technical education and training.
