The Chairperson of the National Standards Council (NSC), Hon. Dr. Chris Wamalwa, CBS, has officially signed the 2025/2026 Performance Contract with the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI).
The milestone signing ceremony was presided over by Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, at the Ministry Headquarters in Nairobi.
The event was witnessed by key government officials, including Dr. Juma Mukhwana, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Industry; Mr. Stephen Yego, Member of the National Standards Council and Chairperson of the Governance and Strategy Committee; and Esther Ngari, EBS, Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

The Performance Contract establishes a rigorous framework aimed at strengthening institutional accountability, performance management, and excellence in service delivery. It sets clear, measurable targets to ensure the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) delivers tangible results that support industrial expansion, safeguard consumer health and safety, and enhance the global competitiveness of Kenyan-made products.

Speaking during the ceremony, officials emphasised that the contract serves as a critical governance tool to drive efficiency and quality across Kenya’s standards ecosystem. By aligning operations with national priorities, the National Standards Council reaffirms its strong commitment to the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Quality infrastructure and standards remain a central pillar of the government’s strategy to promote sustainable economic growth, empower local entrepreneurs, and position Kenya’s industrial sector for success in both regional and international markets.
