Ms. Fazila Pheta, in her presentation on “Action Agenda for SALGA Talent Management Support to Municipalities,” outlined the significant strides made by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) since 2018 in strengthening municipal capacity.
She highlighted competency assessments for senior managers, skills development initiatives, and advocacy for reforms as key areas of focus. According to Pheta, SALGA’s training interventions have already benefited over 6,700 individuals, including 4,312 officials and 2,414 councillors, helping to improve governance and leadership across municipalities.
In her closing remarks, Limpopo Provincial Director of Operations, Ms. Ledile Sebati, commended the role of program directors and underscored the importance of partnerships and networking platforms. She further stressed the need for municipalities to leverage data-driven decision-making to enhance service delivery.
