The Sanganai/Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo 2025 has sparked a new wave of excitement for Zimbabwe’s tourism sector with the launch of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) passenger train service connecting Harare and Mutare.
The train’s inaugural journey was celebrated in Mutare with a champagne toast led by key dignitaries, including Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Hon.

The new rail service, supported by the Mutapa Investment Fund, marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, promoting connectivity and economic growth through tourism. Minister Rwodzi hailed the initiative as a prime example of the Whole-of-Government approach, emphasizing its role in enhancing the nation’s tourism infrastructure.
