Zimbabwe has signed two major strategic agreements with China for the maintenance of Victoria Falls International Airport and the technical cooperation between the Airports Company of Zimbabwe and China Jiangsu International Group.
Zimbabwean Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Joshua Sacco, made this announcement, acknowledging the great significance that these agreements bear in support of wider national developmental aspirations.
“So as we expand our airports in the country. It means we also have the need for skilled manpower and this comes in handy as we cooperate with the Chinese company,” he said
It was noted that the agreement shows the Zimbabwe government’s commitment to conserving and promoting strategic national assets.
“The signing of the two agreements is a continuation of the long-standing relationship between our two nations dating back to the days of the liberation struggle and it now shows that we are moving on to a stage where we share economic development between the two countries,” Sacco said.

Also speaking at the signing event was the Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, China, Ma Xin, who noted that the CJI’s longstanding commitment to Zimbabwe, including delivering quality infrastructure projects, has already made a difference on the ground in terms of socio-economic development.
He further highlighted Jiangsu Province’s readiness to participate in infrastructure development in Zimbabwe, stating that the country’s progress towards industrialization bodes well for future investments.
