President Advocate Duma Boko met with former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair , reaffirming Botswana’s commitment to economic diversification, infrastructure development, and digital transformation.
Sir Tony’s visit follows his earlier bilateral discussions with President Boko at the World Economic Forum in Davos, during which both leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in key economic sectors.
During their engagement, President Boko underscored the need for improved rail infrastructure, stronger private sector partnerships, and the digitization of Botswana’s economy as essential drivers of job creation and sustainable growth. He also highlighted the critical role of smart agriculture and agro-processing in enhancing food security and expanding Botswana’s export capacity.

Commending Botswana’s strong democratic governance, Sir Tony acknowledged the importance of economic diversification in ensuring long-term prosperity. He noted that the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is committed to helping nations develop clear visions for progress and supporting them in achieving those goals.
During his one-day visit, Sir Tony also met with key government ministries and agencies, including the Ministry for International Relations, Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Health, SmartBots, and the Ministry of Lands and Agriculture. Their discussions focused on policy reforms, digital transformation, healthcare modernization, and energy transition—critical areas for Botswana’s continued development.
