The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Abuja has donated 100 tons of dates to Nigeria as part of its annual humanitarian relief initiative. The gift, presented on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was facilitated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) to support vulnerable families across the country.
At an official ceremony marking the donation, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Faisal bin Ibrahim Al-Ghamdi, emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes and Islamic solidarity. He expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continuous support in aiding underserved communities worldwide.
“This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s deep-rooted ties with Nigeria and our commitment to supporting Muslim communities, especially during significant religious periods such as Ramadan,” Ambassador Al-Ghamdi stated.

This year’s distribution plan allocates 50 tons of dates to Abuja and another 50 tons to Kano, ensuring that the aid reaches those in need. In collaboration with local authorities and humanitarian organizations, the Saudi Embassy will oversee the distribution process to ensure that the dates are delivered to the most vulnerable families.

Saudi Arabia has a longstanding history of providing humanitarian aid to Nigeria and other nations, with efforts to alleviate food insecurity and promote welfare initiatives. Ambassador Al-Ghamdi reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with Nigeria, particularly in humanitarian and Islamic affairs.
The donation aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which seeks to expand the Kingdom’s role in international humanitarian efforts. Through such initiatives, Saudi Arabia continues to reinforce its commitment to fostering global peace, stability, and prosperity while maintaining strong bilateral relations with Nigeria.
