President William Ruto has announced that Kenya has received Ksh63.5 billion (USD485 million) from South Korea to enhance the country’s digital ecosystem and expand opportunities for the youth in the creative economy.
The funding will also support the development of the Konza Digital Media City Project.
Speaking at the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit in Goyang, President Ruto emphasized the importance of Kenya’s relationship with South Korea, citing the country’s significant contribution to Kenya’s development, particularly in technology.
He highlighted Kenya’s potential as a key investment destination, boasting a dynamic and skilled youthful population, abundant arable land, and vast mineral resources.
The funding is expected to strengthen reciprocal cooperation on global supply chains, with discussions focusing on ways to build a mutually constructive and future-oriented partnership between Korea and Africa.
