President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has reiterated his dedication to bolstering media freedom and innovation in the country.
Speaking at the 3rd African Media Conference held in Accra, he emphasized the government’s unwavering support for an independent and responsible media landscape.
“The government of Ghana remains committed to supporting a free, independent, responsible, and innovative media,” he declared, urging collective efforts to enhance media freedom and drive technological advancements.
Akufo-Addo also highlighted the dual nature of AI in media, advocating for its responsible use while cautioning against the risks of misinformation and disinformation.
The 3 day program brought together media professionals from across the continent to discuss the current state and future of journalism in Africa.
The event featured panels and workshops addressing various media challenges, including combating fake news and utilizing digital tools for investigative reporting.
Participants shared experiences and solutions, emphasizing resilience and adaptability in a rapidly changing media environment.
The annual conference serves as a crucial platform for reflecting on journalism’s essential role, celebrating press freedom principles, and exploring measures to safeguard media freedoms across Africa.
The 4th AMC edition is therefore scheduled to be held at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
