The Minister of Energy, Dr. Opoku Prempeh on Tuesday 2nd April, 2024 joined the Committee of Ministers (CoM) of the West African Gas Pipeline meeting in Lome, Togo.
The meeting according the Dr. Prempeh focused on gas related issues pertaining to technical, commercial and regulatory facets.
“At a Committee of Ministers (CoM) of the West African Gas Pipeline meeting yesterday in Lome, Togo, discussions were focused on technical, commercial and regulatory issues pertaining to the operations of the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP),” Dr. Prempeh wrote.
Being the key agenda for Ghana, was the subject matter of unimpeded more gas supply for power generation. Following that, crucial meetings were also held in this regard, on the peripheries of this meeting.
“This, I indicated was also heavily reliant on the operational efficacy of WAPCO within the overarching context of gas supply in the sub-region and beyond.”
“It is heart-warming that stakeholders – Ghana, Nigeria, Benin and Togo are at a convergence on the need for an all-hands on deck approach in terms of seamless gas supply to support the economic growth of our respective countries.
I remain optimistic that, through these productive engagements, we will surmount temporary challenges and forge ahead for a brighter energy future,” the Dr. Prempeh expanded.
