Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Talent, and Resource Mobilization Pastor Alex Maina has held a high level meeting with a team from Qhala and Open Institute led by Dr. Shiko Gitau, at the County’s Headquarters.
They are tech firms dealing with data and research and intend to support the department of health and education in the mapping of all healthcare facilities and create a database that will enhance responses and influencing decision-making. The focus of data collection includes dispensaries, Subcounty hospitals, medical clinics, and County Referral Hospitals.
Dr. Shiko Gitau highlighted the initiative’s goal to involve over 150 youth in all 55 wards of Nakuru County, serving as data clerks and collectors. Similar successful initiatives have been implemented in Nandi and Kilifi counties.
The County’s Chief Officer commended the team for engaging with the administration of Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika, creating opportunities for young people and facilitating timely feedback on health facility data collection across the County.
Present were Benjamin Wachira from Open Institute, Dr. Joy Mugambi County Health Director, Wilfred Wachira County Healthy Coordinator among others.
