The Ministry of Health in Ghana has proposed to host the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Africa Regional Office in Accra.
This proposal came up during a meeting with the Director General of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), Prof. Jerome H Kim, and his delegation.
The primary agenda of the gathering was to explore Ghana’s proposal to serve as the host country for the IVI Africa Regional Office, a decision that could potentially strengthen the nation’s role in advancing vaccine research and development on the African continent.
The discussions also delved into Ghana’s upcoming responsibility as the CoHost of a Side Meeting during the 37th AU Session later this year, emphasizing the country’s commitment to fostering international collaboration in the healthcare sector.
The meeting highlighted ongoing talks about Ghana’s membership in the IVI Council, signaling the nation’s dedication to playing a pivotal role in shaping global health policies.
“The Ministry has convened a meeting with the Director General of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Prof. Jerome H Kim and his entourage to discuss Ghana’s proposal to host the IVI Africa Regional Office in Accra.
Discussions also bothered on CoHost of Side Meeting at the 37th AU Session which comes off this year. There were also deliberations that focused on follow- up on Ghana’s membership of the IVI Council, IVI support for vaccine Research and Development and manufacturing in Ghana.” Ministry of Health, Ghana wrote.
