The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, along with the Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, and some Directors of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), embarked on a two-day working visit – from 15th to 16th January, 2023 – in the Ashanti Region following successful visits to the Western, Central, and Greater Accra Regions.
The main goal during the visit was to monitor, evaluate, and assess the GSFP initiative in the region.
The Hon. Minister and her entourage as part of the visit, paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister.
During the courtesy call, discussions were centered on coordinating efforts between the national and regional levels to ensure a seamless implementation of social protection and child related programmes.
The team also interacted with GSFP caterers in the region to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness of the school feeding initiative at all levels.
The visit afforded Hon. Lariba Abudu and her team the opportunity to visit some GSFP beneficiary schools to interact with headteachers and also get firsthand information about food served to pupils.
Some of the schools visited includes Danyame LA primary and JHS, Presby primary and JHS, Bomsu M.A primary and JHS among others.
The Hon. Minister also used the opportunity to share insights and updates on the achievements of the Ministry through media interactions.
The media engagement was to keep the public informed about the progress and impacts made by the Ministry.
