The Nigeria Customs Service Lilypond Export Command has reported a Free On Board (FOB) export value of $701,784,984 in 2023.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya, revealed this accomplishment during a press briefing held at the Command on Thursday, January 19, 2024.
The Command successfully processed a total of 18,407 containers, encompassing both 20ft and 40ft sizes, with a combined weight of 688,097 metric tons. Comptroller Odusanya attributed the success to the diverse categorization of processed items, including Agricultural produce, Extractive and Solid Minerals, Miscellaneous Items, and Manufactured goods.
Highlighting the significance of the export of Agricultural produce, such as Cocoa, Sesame, Hibiscus Flowers, etc, Odusanya emphasized that this category accounted for the highest activity, contributing to export earnings amounting to $315,989,502.97.
He noted, “Export of Agricultural produce such as Cocoa, Sesame, Hibiscus Flowers, Cashew Nuts, and others is considered the highest activity, accounting for export earnings of $315,989,502.97.”
He also outlined the financial contributions made, with N2.182,681,163 paid into the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) levy account and a surcharge of N97.192,645 recorded based on the 2.5 percent levy on the export of previously imported goods.
