The bank of Botswana in a release on January 3, 2024 has indicated that the Pula depreciated by 0.3 percent against the South African rand and appreciated by 0.1 percent and the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR), over the one-month period to December 2023.
It appreciated by 0.7 percent against the US dollar and 0.2 percent each against both the Chinese renminbi and the British pound, while it depreciated by 3.2 percent against the Japanese yen and 0.1 percent against the euro.
Over the twelve months period to December 2023, the nominal Pula exchange rate appreciated by 3.9 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 5.7 percent against the SDR.
Against the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula depreciated by 10.2 percent against the British pound, 8.4 percent against the euro, 4.8 percent against the US dollar and 3.1 percent against the Chinese renminbi, while it appreciated by 1.5 percent against Japanese yen.
