The Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure (DSSRI) at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mr. Ogbugo Ukoha has embarked on a familiarization visit to Rear Admiral M.B Hassan, the newly appointed Commander of the Nigerian Navy Western Naval Command.
During the visit, Mr. Ukoha commended the Nigerian Navy for its role in maintaining peace and security in the country, emphasizing the pivotal role of Lagos in the Nigerian energy sector.
He called for increased cooperation between the NMDPRA and the navy to avert any potential energy crisis during the upcoming Yuletide season.
“In an effort to deepen collaboration on energy security, our Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure (DSSRI), Mr Ogbugo Ukoha, went on a familiarization visit to the newly appointed Commander of the Nigerian Navy Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral M.B Hassan.
Mr. Ukoha in his address extolled the efforts of the military, especially the Nigerian Navy in maintaining the peace and security in the country. He stated that Lagos plays a pivotal role in the Nigerian energy sector particularly in the Midstream/Downstream sub-sector of the economy,” NMDPRA wrote on Facebook.
Rear Admiral Hassan, in response, urged the NMDPRA to intensify efforts in regulating the Oil & Gas sector and monitoring the movement of petroleum products, especially in border areas like Badagry, to curb illegal activities and revenue loss.
As part of their engagement strategy, the NMDPRA delegation, led by Mr. Ogbugo Ukoha, also visited the headquarters of Total Energies Ltd at Victoria Island, Lagos.
The team received a firsthand look at the company’s operational processes, specifically the automated trucks’ tracking system designed for real-time monitoring, efficiency, and safety.
Rabiu Abdulmutalib, the General Manager of Operations at Total Energies Ltd, highlighted the system’s capabilities in ensuring compliance and auditing for potential violations.
