The Minister Responsible for the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry of the Republic of Kenya, Moses K. Kuria has been honoured with the prestigious title of “Public Sector Global Minister of the Week” from September 30th to October 6th, 2023.
He is an experienced and dedicated public servant with over three decades of experience, progressively and significantly contributing to the social, political, and economic space in Kenya.
He is also a distinguished professional who has an entrepreneurial career in manufacturing, banking, and investment both in Kenya and internationally.
Before he was sworn in as the CS for the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry in October 2022, Kuria served in several managerial roles in companies across the world, including the Standard Chartered Bank Africa, as he served as the Process Improvement Manager.
The success of his team lead model initiatives especially in the banking operations areas was replicated beyond Kenya to other African countries principally Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Uganda and Tanzania.
Hon. Kuria has also worked with Al Rajhi Bank, Saudi Arabia, one of the largest Islamic banks in the world as a Process Improvement Manager, where he spearheaded business process re-engineering at a time when the bank faced major challenges such as ageing systems that were manual, fragmented and inefficient.
These amongst many significant positions he has held making a transformational impact.
With his highly connected prowess, Kuria has been able to lead the signing of several MOUs including the most recent, with the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya Chapter, aimed at facilitating greater cooperation between the two nations in the realm of trade and commerce.
The collaborative efforts didn’t stop there. The institution led by Kuria also took centre stage by inaugurating the 4th International Indo-Africa B2B Investment and Trade Exhibition. This grand event, hosted at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, showcased a thriving platform for businesses from both the Indo-African region to explore new investment opportunities and engage in fruitful trade exchanges.
These initiatives reflect a shared commitment to fostering stronger international trade relations and upholding the highest standards of business ethics between Kenya and the United Kingdom.
The agreements and exhibition launch mark an important step forward in strengthening economic ties and promoting mutual prosperity between the two nations.
He has been able to sustain a mutual agreement with Ugandan Finance Permanent Secretary Ramathan Ggoobi. Focusing on mutual economic and investment objectives by their countries to strengthen bilateral relations in trade and investment, they agreed to facilitate a regional co-investment initiative between the Devki Group, the Uganda Development Corporation and the Knyan Development Corporation. Finalising the framework agreement will allow the transfer of iron ore from Uganda to DEVKI.
Over the years, Honourable Kuria has developed a global network of relationships mostly in the Middle East as well as in Europe and China.
He has strategically managed to promote local and foreign investments through the creation of a conducive business and investment climate for a sustainable transformed economy.
Public Sector Global Magazine’s “Minister of the Week” title is a well-deserved accolade awarded to top-performing Ministers whose visionary policies and exemplary leadership have brought about transformative changes to society.
