The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a change in the reopening date for Senior High School (SHS) Form One students.
As oppose to the initial pronounced date of September 18, 2023, the students will instead resume classes on September 25, 2023.
This announcement follows a released letter signed by the Acting Director of the Schools and Instructions Division of the GES, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah to all regional directors, instructing them to inform school heads, parents, and students of the new date.
The reason behind this change is attributed to the double track system, which posed challenges in accommodating all students simultaneously. With the original reopening date, there was a concern that the schools might not have adequate space to accommodate all the students.
However, by moving the date to September 25, the GES aims to ensure that final year students have completed their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and vacated the premises, thus creating a more conducive environment for the Form One students.
