Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has been celebrated as one of the premier government institutions in Tanzania for its commendable contribution of 272.4 billion/- to the national treasury by June 2023.
The acknowledgement came during a ceremony at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), attended by top brass of governmental entities, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan bestowed recognition certificates.
Dr. Jabiri Bakari, the Director-General of TCRA, along with the Board of Directors Vice-Chairman, Mr. Khalfan Salehe, received acclaim for their exceptional leadership in guiding the authority to such success.
In her address, President Hassan emphasized the need for government-owned institutions to be financially independent and cease dependence on the central government for sustenance.
She highlighted, “Government-owned institutions should contribute to the State coffers instead of being fed to survive.”
Furthermore, she revealed plans to amend laws, aiming to convert the Treasury Registrar’s Office into the Public Capital Investment Authority.
The event also spotlighted discussions on bolstering economic growth and diminishing reliance on government financial backing.
