The Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture (MoTAC) and Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) are targeting 1.2 million international tourist arrivals for 2023.
Domestic tourist numbers are also expected to reach 1.2 million during the same period. The industry is also aiming to create 150,000 jobs for young people in all sub-sectors.
Speaking during the launch of the 2022 Tourism Report launch and 50th anniversary celebration, the Minister of Tourism Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal said the target is expected to generate an estimated $3.4 billion in revenue for 2023, compared to the $2 billion realized in 2022.
International arrivals in Ghana grew by 46.7% year-on-year in 2022, moving from 623,523 in 2021 to 914,892 in 2022.
The target for 2025 is to achieve international arrivals of two million, generating over $5.2 billion in revenue.
